Tired of having weak nails after every gel manicure? With the right tools and techniques, you can remove gel nail polish at home without damaging your natural nails. Here’s our simple guide to keep your nails safe during removal.
1. Rough up surface
Gently file the surface of each nail using a nail file. This helps break the top coat of the gel, allowing the acetone to penetrate more easily. Be careful not to file too much, as you don’t want to damage your natural nail bed.
2. Apply wrap
Apply your MUSE Society Gel Removal Wrap by placing your finger inside the sachet and ensuring your nail is pressed against the acetone soaked cotton pad. Secure the wrap by folding the loose sachet packaging around your finger. Let the acetone soak for 15 minutes. For best results, you can use our MUSE Society Removal Clips to secure the wraps while waiting for the gel to shatter
3. Gently scrape off
After removing the wraps, the gel polish should be softened and have a shattered effect. While your nails are still wet, use a cuticle pusher to gently scrape off the gel. Start at the cuticle and work your way down to the tip of your nail. If some gel is still stubborn, don’t force it off - put your nail back in a wrap and soak for another 5 minutes.
4. Clean up
Once the gel is fully removed, use a buffer to gently smooth your nail surface. This step helps get rid of any remaining polish residue and restores the shine to your natural nails.
5. Re-hydrate
Finish off your at-home manicure by applying MUSE Society’s nourishing Cuticle Oil to hydrate and condition your nails and cuticles. Massage the oil into your nails and surrounding skin to keep them healthy and moisturized. Follow up with a good moisturizing hand lotion to restore hydration.
